Meet Our Team

Dave Jansen

Grand Master of our Three-Ring Circus
Dave is not only an all-around walking encyclopedia of motorcycle information, but also an avid rider. He races in the NASA Rally-Moto series of timed stage races that have a mix of terrain & surface types, as well as AHRMA Cross-Country vintage racing. Dave has been a rider most of his life and learned to work on bikes as a necessity to keep his old CB750 running while a student at college. He worked at a small shop while at UNC-W obtaining his BS in Chemistry, then came back home to Chapel Hill and spent some time in a “real” job before realizing doing what you love means much more than the paycheck. He worked for several shops as a Technician before venturing out and starting Combustion Cycles in 2003, and has been spinning wrenches here in Durham since. He worked as a support crew chief for a solo attempt in the 2010 Baja 1000. His current rides are his Honda XR650R, an XR250R trail bike, a Honda ST1100, and Triumph Daytona 675 track bike.

Josiah Dubose

Mechanic II A high scoring, certified, 2013 graduate of MMI with foci on Suzuki and Yamaha, Josiah has a strong diagnostic skill set and was very quick to grasp the detail-oriented approach that we use here at Combustion Cycles! Josiah raced two stroke motocross as a teen, and now rides a 2006 SV650. He’s from the Asheville area and loves the twisty roads in that part of the state. He also is an excellent chef.

Dewey Dry

Mechanic III Dewey, a certified, career motorcycle mechanic, has seen it all! He remembers when those vintage bikes were new, and remembers their quirks. He can make drum brakes feel like disks! Dewey owned his own shop in the 90’s here in Durham and has a great reputation as an honest, reliable, can-do fellow! He has ample experience with both Metric and Harley-Davidson motorcycles. In his spare time Dewey enjoys restoring vintage Tonka trucks and radio controlled cars!
